Cycling Instructors

Barb Bohm Becker
I have always loved bikes and cycling, ever since I was a child and learned that bikes meant freedom. I have been riding bikes for 52 years now, repairing them as a professional mechanic for 20 years, and teaching indoor cycling since 2002.  I am a certified U.S. Cycling Federation race mechanic, an A.C.E. certified group exercise instructor, a LeMond Fitness certified indoor cycling instructor, and a 1954 graduate of Mrs. Lombard's pre-school in New York.

I absolute love teaching indoor cycling here at the Club. It is possible to make any class appropriate for just about anybody, whether they are new to cycling or professional hammerhead racers. It is wonderful that each participant has complete control over the level of their workout. Whether or not they ever ride outside, the indoor cycling program can help a person become, or remain, fit and healthy. I consider it a privilege to be a part of this program.

DeeDee Erhard
As recreational cyclist with a competitive nature, DeeDee believes that even hard work can be fun. Cycling can be whatever you make of it, and “I enjoy a good ride, good music, and a playful attitude”. DeeDee is certified through the LeMond Academy and Spinning.

Fred Boos
I like to say, "I learned everything I needed to know about life while suffering at 35 mph in a Belgian crosswind". I lead a rich but increasingly complex life. I can always count on getting back to center with a good, hard effort that brings me back to my racing days on those Belgian roads. I try and share some of that perspective with my class.

Julia Sandvall
Julia sees every indoor cycling class as not just an opportunity to burn calories, but as an opportunity to become a stronger, more focused, better rider. She believes that the music is as important as the ride itself, and that with the right music you can tune out the rest of your life and just ride. "A good cycling class to me is not just a ride, but an escape from the real world." Julia is an ACE and NASM certified Personal Trainer and has had training and held certifications with Lemond, Reebok, and Johnny G Spinning.

Katy Hays
Katy is a passionate cyclist. She regularly rides in century-distance bike events, has competed in recreational-level mountain bike races, and can be found most summer weekends on some long ride around Central Oregon. Katy is a LeMond Academy-certified indoor cycling instructor.

Michelle Sprando
I started instructing in order to more positively channel my "late-nite dancing at the Grove" energy! I became certified by Precision Cycling/24 Hour Fitness four years ago, AFAA primary group fitness certified immediately thereafter, have gotten more sleep, and have become a spaz on a bike ever since.

I believe that indoor cycle is such a "full" way to exercise - we get great music, an instructor in front of us telling us jokes and wearing the latest fashion in tank-tops, climate-control, and a variety of humans all around us enjoying an endorphin-enriched HIGH!

Morri Miller
Morri is a Certified Lemond Revmaster instructor with years of experience in the fitness industry. She also holds a certification through ACE as a Personal Fitness Trainer and while she is not on the schedule with a specific spin class, she happily subs when the need arises. Her philosophy in both the cycling and weight room is to assess individuals and their needs, and then support them in their growth toward healthier lifestyles. "Creating a positive cardio environment in which we can all be successful, is the goal of every single class I teach. This is achieved by throwing out challenges that are attainable at all fitness levels!"

Nancy Ludeman
Nancy Ludeman has been teaching a variety of group fitness classes for the past 25 years including indoor cycling. She is certified through Johnny G Spinning, Lemond Academy and has been teaching this activity for 10 years. Nancy has also been a Personal Trainer for the past 20 years certified through ACE, ACSM along with 600 hours of continuing education. She says, "Over the past 25 years, I have seen the fitness industry evolve into a more complete approach to wellness... guiding fitness professionals, through research and education, how to teach and train people so they can discover a sense of "total well-being". It's been my privilege to share this journey with others! "

Renee Mansour
I became a certified spin instructor in 2001 through Johnny G/Madd Dog Athletics. I have so enjoyed my years of teaching here at the club as well as the members. Leaving all of our family back in the Midwest I find the club to be not only my extended family but my home away from home. Since moving to Bend I have gotten more involved in riding outdoors which has lead to pursing the race circuit. Over the past couple years I have partaken in many road races and have enjoyed bringing that training knowledge into my spin classes. I enjoy giving the members a workout with a purpose that they can attain even with their own goals in mind.

Sarah Persha
First bicycle: age 3! Cycle Oregon girl, mountain bike enthusiast, favorite town transportation in summer. ACE, AEA, LeMond certified fitness instructor, loves those intervals, then those stretches! Can't wait to try cycling in the pool--imagine that resistance...

Shana Coker
Shana is certified by Lemond and Reebok Cycling. She is also certified through ACE as a Group Exercise Instructor. Her first and last mountain bike race was in 1993! Shana’s motto is to live vicariously through others and “live long and prosper”.

Shannah Werner
Shannah is a Certified Spinning Instructor through Johnny G. Spinning, as well as a Certified Personal Trainer (ACE) and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA-CSCS). She believes indoor cycling is a great way to get aerobic exercise as well as complement the training regimen of outdoor cyclists. Shannah tries to make her classes more exciting and fun by pairing music tempo to the terrain and speed of the ride. "Spinning is great for people of every fitness level because you are in control of your resistance and speed - Challenge yourself when you can, or use the class as a recovery - it's your ride and no one else's."

Tara Butler
From 1992 to today, Tara Butler’s cycling progression has gone from Exercise & Health Science graduate to Recreational runner to Avid triathlete working to improve her game to Cycling class devotee to Cycle Reebok Cycling instructor back to Recreational triathlete and runner to Mother of two trying to get the most complete workout in the least amount of time possible. Tara pulls from all areas of her background to deliver the most comprehensive workout to all cyclists.

Most importantly, Tara loves people and enriching their lives, and she hopes people feel this energy in her class. Her goal is for each person to walk away from the workout feeling better than when they came in, whether that is physically, mentally or both….sweaty would be nice too!

Verson Pandian
As an endurance cyclist Verson brings the experience of epic rides into the spin classes. His enthusiasm for health and fitness is enhanced by his experiences gained from rides such as Paris-Brest-Paris, The Death Ride, Tour of Alaska, and many more adventures. Delivering a great work out and having fun doing it is a foundation of his classes.
